Plano-Convex Cylindrical Lens

Plano-convex cylindrical lenses produce line-shaped images and are used when beam control is required in only one direction. These lenses are fabricated from BK7 glass and are therefore unsuitable for ultraviolet wavelengths.

分类:

A plano-convex cylindrical lens focuses an incident collimated beam onto a straight line. It possesses a positive focal length and consists of one flat surface and one convex cylindrical surface. Such lenses are commonly employed to focus parallel or divergent beams into lines—or to modify the aspect ratio of an image.

A plano-convex cylindrical lens is a specialized optical element. Unlike conventional spherical lenses—which focus light to a single point—this lens focuses a beam into a straight line along one axis while leaving the beam unchanged along the orthogonal axis. Structurally, it resembles a longitudinal slice of a cylinder: one face is flat; the other is a curved cylindrical surface.

Key Features:

• One-Dimensional Beam Shaping: Controls light exclusively along a single axis—enabling beam compression or expansion and altering its cross-sectional profile.
• Line Focus Generation: Focuses collimated light (e.g., laser beams) into an extremely narrow line rather than a point.
• Astigmatism Correction: Compensates for astigmatism arising in optical systems when light focuses at different positions along mutually perpendicular axes.
