Double-Convex Cylindrical Lens

Double-convex cylindrical lenses are primarily employed in optical designs requiring controlled modification of image dimensions—for instance, transforming a point spot into a line spot, or adjusting image height without altering its width.

分类:

A double-convex cylindrical lens can be conceptualized as a double-convex lens with curvature confined to a single direction. Its defining feature lies in the two symmetrical curved surfaces, which deliver stronger focusing power than plano-convex cylindrical lenses and enable effective correction of multiple aberrations—such as spherical aberration, coma, and distortion—under specific imaging conditions. Consequently, these lenses are widely adopted in sophisticated optical systems.

Both lens surfaces are convex cylindrical, typically arranged symmetrically (with equal radii of curvature on both sides), enabling one-dimensional focusing only.

Key characteristics:
• High focusing power: Capable of concentrating collimated light (e.g., laser beams) into an intense, narrow focal line (line focus).
• Symmetrical design: Minimizes spherical aberration, coma, and distortion.
