Double-Concave Lens

A double-concave lens shares similarities with a plano-concave lens in that it possesses a negative focal length and causes parallel incident light rays to diverge outward. Unlike the plano-concave variant, however, both surfaces of a double-concave lens are concave spherical surfaces with equal radii of curvature. This symmetric geometry yields stronger divergence and more balanced aberration characteristics—making it especially suitable for beam expansion, projection, and other applications requiring uniform angular spread across wide fields of view.
